About us

Run by entrepreneurs and investors with skin in the game.

Borski Fund was founded with the mission to help close the gender funding gap, providing entrepreneurs with the capital and expertise to enable their innovations to successfully reach the market, making a positive impact on society.

Portrait of Johanna Borski
Why Borski

Named after Johanna Borski.

Johanna Borski was a female investor and role model in an era when capital was almost exclusively a man's tool. In 1814 she made her fortune by buying nearly half the shares issued in De Nederlandsche Bank.

Decades later, in 1840, she stepped in to rescue the Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij from bankruptcy. The way Borski used capital to do good, in a time when investing was even more male-dominated than today, is the source we drew from when we set up the fund that bears her name.

The origin story

Two founders. One bet.

Borski Fund exists because two operators with twenty years of conviction decided not to wait for someone else to do it. Borski Fund is part of the StartGreen Capital group, leveraging deep expertise in impact investing to superpower world-class founding teams.
